About Us

We are a group of UC Berkeley students who, in the Spring of 2014, for the Mechatronics course at UCB (ME102B), under the guidance of Professor Homayoon Kazerooni, built a system to automatically manage gear-shifts on a bicycle, otherwise known as an automatic transmission.

The system was designed to be a drop-in fitting for practically any bike, require little setup, be inexpensive to implement, and need absolutely no modifications to the original bike.

We believe we achieved our goal of a functional, low-cost prototype.
